How has email changed the face of communication?

The advent of the internet has changed the face of everyday life like no other invention. Ever since the net became commonly available, it has a presence in most offices and household. Businesses rely heavily on the internet for their day to day functioning.  One of the key areas that have been transformed by the internet is Communications. Days when communications were sent through post or by fax seem like a thing of a fairly distant past. Communication is quick, easy, and efficient through emails. Today, not only do businesses use email as the prime mode of communication but almost anyone who knows how to operate a computer has a personal email ID. Even when one does not have internet access at home, internet cafes provide it at very reasonable rates.

During the initial years when internet usage was still being explored and it was not commercially available to everyone. Businesses that believed in pioneering the adoption of new technology were the only ones who had email systems. Email was provided by web hosting and development companies and came at a substantial cost. Most SMEs and SMBs did not consider email to be a life changing technology and hung on to older methods of communication. However, as the technology was adopted by a larger number of organizations, its benefits became obvious. Sending emails greatly reduced the manual effort of sending a letter by post (print it, label the envelope, post it) and making corrections was so much easier. However, the biggest advantage of using email was that it made near instant written communication possible. Once the internet became commonly available personal email evolved as the most popular method of staying in touch with friends and family who may be residing in countries anywhere in the world! It didn’t cost as much as telephone calls and you could send as much information as you wanted. Today, email is the most common method of written communication.

Why are You Getting Spammed?

What is causing you to get so much spam? You often may wonder this question. One of the reasons could be from your business cards or website.

Handing out business cards is smart. It helps you grow your business. Putting your email on there may seem like a smart business move too. What the cause of the problem is how the business cards are distributed. If you just spread them around everywhere that could cause you to be spammed. How about when you see the fishbowls in a restaurant saying you can win a free lunch if you just put your business card in there. Well, that is normally a way for them to get your email. By engaging in something so harmless you are actually harvesting your email. If you look carefully on the label you are agreeing to be put on a mailing list. Sometimes, you may even be told that. Even hanging your business card up on a store’s bulletin board can bring the same results.

If you have a website it would seem logical to put your email on it but it can cause you to be spammed. The tools that use to help us find websites in the past can now help us in spamming. Any websites that a person uses and post comments (including their email) can be used for one to spam you. Any website that you would openly post your email on could be getting your email out there for a spammer. Auction sites are a good example of this. A really bad place to get your email out there is by using free offer sites. When using these sites spyware or even viruses can be sent to your computer. When you are visiting a site that asks for your email to get a download spam is often involved. If you are already overloaded with spam, change your email address and take future measures to prevent it.

Uses of Software on Your Computer

ContentThe various programs that are used to help a computer operate are known as computer software. The most common types of computer software are the application software, and ones that are used to help the system and programming.

Everything that happens on a computer is run by some form of software. The required operation has to have some type of application that is allowing for the computer to run. If you want to play a game on the computer it is still considered to be a function by the computer. It does not matter if you need to run a business related software or educational you have to have software to make it run properly and perform what you need to do.

The performance of a business requires software for their operations on a daily basis. Tasks such as customer service, payroll, and many others can be performed straight from a computer software program. These tasks usually are performed with special software that is chosen by the company. Certain software may be purchased by the company in order to help the employee learn a special skill. For instance, it may be helpful for a company to have their employees learn another language to improve on their customer service skills.

Running monitoring equipment in a hospital requires use of software. When an experiment is run by a researcher they may use software to aid in their research. The software industry has grown over the years and will continue to keep growing. Programmers are working everyday to make this become a reality. This should be an important thing to keep in mind for those who are looking for a job or looking to start a new career. When continuing education for job skills remember to learn the software similar to the type of job that you are looking for because this will help you have a heads up in that field.

Ways to Avoid Being Spammed

Email that is unsolicited is referred to as “spam”. Which is such a problem for some that it is hard to control? It actually similar to trying to control your junk mail at your business or even in your home. This can become a never ending cycle.

It is much easier to sort through the junk mail at home then it is on your computer. On the computer the volume is usually larger and harder to do away with then it is at home. Most people search for the perfect software to help with this problem only to find that the best solution is taking steps to avoid getting it in the first place.

Changing the way we do things could be the answer. Take into consideration the reasons for having email.First, communication for personal or business reasons with those that we already know. Then there is communicating with others to gain a personal or professional benefit. Communicating by email with someone we know usually does not get us into trouble. It is the communication with those who we do not know that gets us into trouble.

Our behavior towards email is what puts us under the radar. When your putting your email on a business card it could lead to being spammed. Registering for a service or website when online could be ways that could led you to get more spam. This may sound ridiculous but when you look at the bigger picture it makes sense. Just something as simple as dropping a business card in a fish bowl to win a free lunch could bring spam to your email or possibly your home. Putting your email on a social website could bring about the same. There are “crawlers” that can be used to scan the internet for email addresses. The best way to avoid this is not to have your email directly on your website.

Creating Your Own Software Program

It’s a fabulous dream that many programmers have. Creating the perfect software that everyone can use and generate incredible fortune from it.

It’s not farfetched and there are hundreds of programmers that created their wealth by replicating their formulas over again each time with a new program.

This is the dream of developing a business that can live forever. It is building a business that will continue to generate revenue and actually doesn’t take that much technological intelligence to make and preserve.

Most of think that in order to create a software program, you must be a genius and you must have an extreme amount of power. But, what if it really isn’t that hard?

Here’s an easy way to think of it. First, you come up with a really great idea for software. A lot of companies actually employ an entire staff, whose sole responsibility is to brainstorm possible software ideas that will make a killing. But, there are actually systems available that will give you these ideas. There are those that claim that once you have this magical formula or blueprint, that you too, can create software after software, like these wealthy software billionaires. The real secret, they imply, is that you just need to know that formula.

The question is why are they giving information like this away? If it were really that simple, wouldn’t everyone be doing it? Maybe the best thing that programs offering to give you these blueprints and ideas is to let it help you brainstorm your own ideas. This is how many of the great software programs became available today. Another idea you might want to consider is making sure that those who chose to use your software is to have an update driver that customers need to use in order to access information, this might dissuade hackers from putting any effort into it. People used other programs that spurred better ideas and lots of “what ifs” and these thoughts created the idea for a program. Once the program is developed and the word is out, someone can either pick it up and market it for you, or you can do the marketing yourself if you have enough funding.
