Most people who have email get in their inbox. It is annoying situation to the receiver of the spam. A receiver may even find the source of the email to be offensive to them. Care must be taken if opening them because it could be dangerous to a computer.

People will gather information about a person and sell it to a third party. To promote their business a third party will send out emails to these people. If the source of who sent the email is not known it would be best not to open the email or to especially click any links to download anything that is attached to the email.

There are alot of software out there that can help a person’s email. Some of these programs are free and yet still provide the protection that is needed for your email. Care needs to be taken when choosing software that provides that protection.

To know how good software is it would be a good idea to read information about it. This can be done by reading people’s reviews on forums and review websites. This will give you a way to form your own opinion of the product. You will want to know if the product meets your needs. For instance, does it place any restrictions on your email clients? Sometimes with these programs an email that is not actually spam will go to the spam folder anyway. You will not actually lose the email but it just will not be located in the inbox.

This email can easily be transferred to the inbox. In the future it should go to the inbox instead of the spam folder. There is also another alternative that will manually check whether an email is spam or real. It is called an email spamming program. Once it is installed on a computer all that is needed of the owner is to scan the individual emails.

A Look at Spam: Phishing Emails

They look like real emails from banks, secure sites and other places. They just simply ask that you provide a few pieces of information because something major has just happened to your account. An unsuspecting person innocently puts in all the information and BOOM their information is stolen by a person.

A few days later they find out that their account has been hacked, all their money is gone and that there is nothing that they can do.

This is a common occurrence and the email that they got is considered a phishing email which is a type of spam. Phishing emails are fraudulent emails that come masked as bank accounts, auction sites such as ebay, social websites like Myspace or Facebook and other types of emails. The whole purpose of the email is to get email receivers to click on the links and provide information to those that want the information.

Here are a few tips to avoid getting caught in a phishing scam.

1. Check the Place that Sent the Email. If you have never banked at Bank of America or never used Ebay then it’s a good bet that they don’t need you to provide them information. If you see one of these emails, either report it to your email provider or just click delete.

2. Your Information will Only Be Retrieved Via Phone. If your real bank or ebay site has a problem with you, they will contact you via phone. They will not email you ever to ask for personal types of information. If they do email you it is only to ask for you to contact them at their real phone number.

Remembering these two items will help you protect yourself, your information and anything that can be obtained from phishing emails. If you suspect something is wrong with it, it probably is. Just keep these tips in mind next time you are emailing.

Should You Report Spam?

Getting spam in your inbox can be annoying, time consuming and even dangerous. It’s become such a problem that people are changing their email addresses that they have had for years and years because of the amount of spam they are getting. Today, there are opportunities to look up the email addresses that you are suspicious of and find out who they belong to. Just like there are reverse phone number lookups, there are also reverse email lookups.

There are directories online with reports from others who receive emails from the same email addresses you are. From that alone you can get an idea of who the company is, but even further is the IP address and server company that they are registered with. This can be of great value when you go to report them.

While it may not be totally illegal to receive emails from such companies, you do have the right to complain about what you are receiving and the quantity that you are receiving it in. If you are receiving inappropriate information to your email then by all means report that. You can then report your complaint.

Most of us have seen the “inappropriate” emails that advertise male enhancement or sexually explicit information.

Many people wonder if it is worth it or not to report spam emails and so to save time they just delete the emails that they don’t know. But, you can actually do a great service to yourself and others when you report these emails. Don’t forget that spam is not just an inconvenience; it can also be very damaging. Spam emails can contain viruses that really harm computers.

Why? Because reporting that a company is sending you such emails will be an alert. The companies will then be notified that they cannot send anymore of those spam emails. If they continue to practice sending spam emails like the ones you complained about then they are at risk at having their business shut down. It’s a serious issue, so do your part and make a stand.

The Real Way to Protect Yourself from Spam

It’ at an all time high. Spam. People are deleting as much as 50 emails a day from their spam and junk folders. The topics are laughable and some of them totally unheard of. In any case, they are spam and they take up a lot of your mailbox space as well as your time.

Here are some ways to prevent spam:

Have two email addresses. With two email accounts you can separate the important emails from the non-important emails. One email account should be for business, people that you want to hear from and it should reflect your name. The second account should be the email address that you use for the sites that you visit, which require you to put in an email address. This is the email to use for subscriptions etc. This is where the spam comes from. Without realizing it, you are agreeing your email to be shared with all of their affiliates and therefore, the 20 plus emails a day come rolling in.

When you do receive emails on your main account, do not open them or click on the links provided inside them. This is what leads to more spam and possibly viruses. The only thing you can do is to scroll to the bottom of the email and click on the opt-out link that they provide, which will allow you to take your name off of their list. Otherwise, just delete it and move on. Do NOT reply to them.

Only respond to people that you know. Spammers have very clever ways of getting information from you. They know how to make themselves appear professional and they have ways of sparking your interest base on your history of purchases, subscriptions and sites that you have visited. There are even spammers that get your information and everyone in your address book and send emails as if they are coming from your address! This might happen to you. This is why, if anything looks suspicious and unfamiliar, you should delete it.

Sensitive or very important information can be lost or even captured, to the point that one’s privacy can be compromised.

There are several programs available that can be used to filter out spam. Consumers can take a few minutes to shop around and compare features and prices before choosing the one that works best for them. Businesses can protect themselves and their customers from spam coupons by using only reputable companies or software to print and disseminate coupons that can be used in their stores. Companies can also clearly specify the terms and conditions which must be met when redeeming the coupons.
